Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a kind of chronic inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis(UC)and Crohn’s disease(CD).Its incidence is rising year by year.IBD patients have to take Colonoscopy repeatly to monitor disease activity and therapeutic effect, but taking Colonoscopy is painful, expensive, and have some contraindication and limitations.A noninvasive, accurate indicator is strongly desired.Fecal calprotectin(FC),which can be easily and noninvasively detected,is secreted by bowel granulocyte neutrophile, and is significantly correlated with Endoscopic Index of Severity, thus it is widely used in the diagnose, prediction of relapse, evaluation of curative effect and appraise of post operation of inflammatory bowel disease. This article provide a brief review of Clinical utinity of fecal calprotectin for the diagnose and management of inflammatory bowel disease.
