In recent years, cardiovascular disease has become the main killer of people’s health in our country, due to the changes of people’s diet structure. The role of genetic factors in cardiovascular disease has also been widely concerned. Apolipoprotein E is a kind of important apolipoprotein, which is involved in lipid metabolism in the human body. It has three common alleles which act various roles in lipid metabolism as well as the onset of coronary heart disease. Currently, with intensive study of Apo E, association of ApoE gene polymorphism and diversified diseases has become research focus. Lipoprotein glomerulopathy is an ApoE mutation related microvascular disease, mainly presented as lipoprotein embolus formation in glomerulus and abnormal lipid metabolism. Research involved with the relation between ApoE gene polymorphism and lipoprotein glomerulopathy has led new recognition of the effects of ApoE on lipid regulation and vascular diseases. The review focuses on ApoE gene polymorphism in lipid metabolism and the research progress of cardiovascular disease.
