Objective By detecting patients with cerebral infarction, carotid atherosclerosis, patients with carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction, and patients with carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction Omentin-1 changes(Omentin-1) levels to clear the relationship between Omentin-1 and carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 200 patients were included in this study and divided into 4 groups:50 patients with cerebral infarction(CI group), 50 patients with carotid atherosclerosis(AS group), 50 patients with carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction(CI +AS group) and 50 healthy person in the same period(control group). Serum Omentin-1 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Meanwhile, calculated body mass index, detected blood lipid [total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), low density lipoprotein(LDL) and high-density lipoprotein(HDL)], C-reactive protein(CRP) and fasting plasma glucose(FPG) and other biochemical markers. Analyse the relationship between serum Omentin-1 and TC,TG, LDL, HDL and CRP.Results 1. In group of CI 、AS and CI+AS, serum levels of omentin-1 was significantly lower than that in NC group, However, it significantly decreased in CI+AS group. Both main and interaction effects between cerebral infarction and carotid therosclerotic had significant influences on serum level of omentin-1(P≤0.05); 2. Correlation analysis showed:serum Omentin-1 levels and TC, TC, TG, LDL,CRP were negatively correlated, but serum Omentin-1 levels and HDL were positively correlated(all P<0.01).Conclusions The level of serum Omentin-1 was significantly lower in patients with cerebral infarction and carotid atherosclerosis, which suggested that omentin-1 may be a protective predictive factor of cerebral infarction in patients with carotid atherosclerosis.
