Objective: Observing the effect of Chen Tang in the early T2 DM patient with obesity and phlegm is to explore the safety and effectiveness of Ping Chen Tang in the early T2 DM patient, as well as possible mechanisms. Methods: This study is randomized and controlled. 42 IGR patients which met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group 21 cases individually. The control group used diet combined with exercise lifestyle intervention, while the observation group used Ping Chen Tang and lifestyle intervention. Observing fasting glucose, fasting insulin, BMI, waist circumference, HDL-C, LDL-C, TG, serum uric acid, blood pressure levels, and symptom score changes of week spleen and phlegm in patients before and after treatment is to explore the mechanism of Ping Chen Tang on insulin resistance index in the early T2 DM patient with obesity and phlegm. The fasting glucose, fasting insulin, blood lipid levels can indicate the improvement in IR from Ping Chen Tang, and the symptom score changes before and after treatment can explain the significance of the traditional Chinese medicine in the aspect of improving the phlegm symptoms in IGR. Analysis of the changes of the above indexes concluded that the main characteristics of the function of Ping Chen Tang in IGR.Results: 8 weeks later, the observation group was significantly lower than the control group in the fasting blood glucose(P < 0.05), therefore the observation group was better than the control group in the improvement of fasting blood glucose. The observation group was significantly lower than the control group in the insulin resistance index(P < 0.05), so in the improvement of the insulin resistance index the observation group was better than the control group. In blood lipid, HDL-C, LDL-C and TG of the observation group compared with the control group were significantly improved after treatment,(P < 0.05), the observation group was better than the control group. In blood pressure, the blood pressure of the observation group and the control group were decreased compared with those before treatment, but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05). After treatment, in the serum uric acid the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05), and the curative effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group. In BMI and waist circumference the observation group were significantly lower than the control group(P < 0.05), and the curative effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group. The clinical symptom scores in the observation group were significantly improved compared with the control group after treatment(P < 0.05), the effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group. Conclusions: Ping Chen Tang is effective in the early T2 DM patients,Can significantly improve the TCM clinical symptoms, fasting blood glucose, insulin resistance index, BMI, waist circumference, blood lipids and serum uric acid levels in the early T2 DM patients with obesity and phlegm. Therefore Ping Chen Tang can delay and prevent the progression of IGR to T2 DM.
