Background This study was aimed at discussing the variation of thyroid hemodynamics and correlative factors in the patients with hyperthyroidism before and after being treated with oral iodine solution. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted to investigate clinical data of the patients with hyperthyroidism who received surgical treatment from January 2015 to January 2016. Index of thyroid function and hemodynamics before and after being treated with oral iodine solution, duration of taking iodine, operative time, estimated blood loss were collected. Thyroid function and hemodynamics before and after being treated with oral iodine solution were compared, and the study of the correlation of them were conducted. And further study of the influence to surgery by preoperative thyroid function and hemodynamics were conducted. Results FT4, peak systolic velocity(PSV)、end diastolic velocity(EDV) and diameter(D) after being treated with oral iodine solutionin in Sixteen cases of primary hyperthyroidism were reduce distinctly, compare with anterior data. Before taking iodine, FT3 was positive correlative with PSV, EDV and D, while TSH was negative correlative with PSV and D; After iodine treatment, FT3 was positive correlative with PSV and D; The duration of iodine treatment was positive correlative with d FT3,d PSV and d EDV, but positive correlative with d TSH; Operative time and estimated blood loss was positive correlative with FT3, PSV and D; In the secondary hyperthyroidism group, PSV, D of the superior thyroid artery(STA) in the mass side was greater distinctly than in the offside before iodine treatment. There was difference of D between the mass side and the offside after iodine treatment; In the 10 cases of pateints with goitre that the maximum diameter greater than 1 cm, PSV of STA in the mass side was positive correlative with the size of the maximum diameter, and the size of the maximum diameter was positive correlative with operative time and estimated blood loss. Conclusion Thyroid hemodynamics can reflect the condition of thyroid function to a certain degree, being a referential index of thyroid function. The variation for parameters of thyroid hemodynamics can be a quantitative index for preoperativeintervention, effectiveness assessment of iodine treatment and the choice of operation opportunity. Observation that combining hyperthyroidism and thyroid function preoperative was conducive to perform preoperative intervention in time, make more appropriate operation plan, guarantee the smooth and safety of the surgical procedure.
