Objective:1. To understand the epidemiological characteristics of injured hospitalized children and provide reference for prevent and reducing the incidence of injuries.2. Evaluate the costs of injured hospitalized children, study factors affecting hospitalized costs, and then provide a basis for reasonable allocation of medical resources. Methods:The cluster sampling was made among four hospitals in YunCheng city, including a third-grade class-A general hospital, two second-grade class-A general hospital and one third-grade class-A special hospital. The author choose 2747 hospitalized children from Jan.1, 2009 to Dec.31, 2013 at 0-14 as research subjects, and made a retrospective survey on children’s epidemiological characteristics and hospitalized expenses. Data entry and data statistics were transacted by Excel 2007 and SPSS 17.0 Software. Then data were analyzed by using χ2 inspection, rank-sum test and analyze the effect factors by multiple stepwise regression. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Results:1. Epidemiological characteristics: Among 2747 injured hospitalized children, the sex ratio was 2.01:1; the urban-rural ratio was 1:3.99. The number of cases increased with age. Unintentional injured children are more than intentional injured children with the ratio 29.2:1. Among 2656 unintentional injured hospitalized children, the sex ratio was 1.95:1; the urban-rural ratio was 1:4.06. Among 91 intentional injured hospitalized children, the sex ratio was 5.06:1; the urban-rural ratio was 1:2.64. Fall, traffic accident and burn were the top three in unintentional injured cases. Intentional injury cause by others was more than that by selves. Unintentional injury mainly happened at home. Intentional injury mainly happened at school, these two injuries often occurred in leisure activities. The rush hour of unintentional injury was in July and August, and the rush hour of intentional injury was in June, July, November and December. Head was the major damaged part and the extent of injury was more moderate. These injuries were often accepted and cared by surgical systems. The common reason of causing death was traffic accident.2. Analysis on influence factors of hospitalized expenses: there are seven factors affecting injured hospitalized expenses, such as the length of hospitalization days, extent of injury, admission situation, admission department, age, injury part, and prognosis. There are eight factors affecting accidental injured hospitalized expenses, such as the length of hospitalization days, extent of injury, injury reasons, admission situation, injury part, age, prognosis, admission department. There are two factors affecting intentional injured hospitalized expenses, such as the length of hospitalization days, admission situation. Conclusions:1. Among hospitalized children for injury in YunCheng, the number of boys was more than girls, rural was more than urban. The number of cases increased with age. The main reasons causing unintentional injury include fall, traffic accident and burn. Intentional injury caused by others was more than that by selves.2. Influence factors of injured hospitalized expenses include: the length of hospitalization days, extent of injury, admission situation, admission department, age, injury part, and prognosis. Influence factors of unintentional injured hospitalized expenses include: the length of hospitalization days, extent of injury, injury reasons, admission situation, injury part, age, prognosis, admission department; Influence factors of intentional injured hospitalized expenses include the length of hospitalization days and admission situation.
