Objective:Analysing the parameters and complications of elderly patients with atrial active-fixation leads for a long time who implant pacemaker in our hospital. To explore the security and feasibility of the application with atrial active-fixation leads in elderly patients for a long time.Methods:138 patients underwent implantation dual-chamber are taking from the first affiliated hospital of shanxi medical university in 2007-2010, who are right atrium active-fixation leads implants, between 76-90 years old. We have recorded pacemaker parameters and complications(including threshold, perception, impedance) of the patients with postoperative 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, observed the parameters change in different periods, described the curve of each parameter. Results:After surgery, the threshold reduced from postoperative 7 days’ 0.7667±0.4241 v to 1month’0.6711±0.2078 v,then the threshold gradually but steadily falling, but the statistics data did not see obvious difference, which showing the thresholds in different postoperative period changed no obvious and within the acceptable range. No obvious difference of perception and impedance in different periods have founded in all statistical comparison. There were 1 patient with visible micro lead-dislocation,1 patient withcomplete lead-dislocation and no patient with cardiac perforation or pericardial effusion. Conclusion:For elderly patients who should implant pacemaker, atrial active-fixation leads is a feasible and safe choice. Moreover,it has extra benefits for some patients.
