Objective: This study aim to investigate clinical characteristics and risk factors of acute kidney injury(AKI) in sepsis patients, Additionally, we explored the clinical outcomes of the acute kidney injury(AKI). Methods: This was a retrospective observational study that collected date from intensive care unit(ICU) at friendship hospital, capital medical university,The septic patients who were 18 years or older and admitted to the ICU from 1 March 2010 to 31 July 2014 were included. We excluded the Patients that stayed in the ICU less than 24 hours; and had chronic kidney function failure. in total,503 sepsis patients admitted to icu for more than 24 hours. AKI was diagnosed and classified according to the KDIGO and sepsis according to the American College of Chest Physicians/Society of Critical Care Medicine(ACCP/SCCM) criteria. Results: of the 503 sepsis patients, acute kidney injury was diagnosed in 272(53.3%),For septic AKI stratified by KDIGO category, 29.9% of patients belonged to the stage 1,11.4% to the stage 2,and 58.7% to the stage 3. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that the development of septic AKI was associated with male, SOFA scores, and MAP. Conclusion: early acute kidney injury is common in septic patients during the first 24 hours after ICU admission according to the KDIGO classification. septic AKI is independently associated with higher odds of death and longer duration of hospitalization.
