Objective: To compare the efficacy of mammography and ultrasonography in detecting stage T1 and Tis breast cancer.Materials and Methods: Pathologic diagnosis as the gold standard, and the mammography and ultrasonograhpy data of 1630 patients with 1665 stage T1 and Tis breast cancer were collected between July, 2011 to July, 2013. Retrospectively analysised the detection rate and diagnosis rate of the two methods. SPSS16.0 software was used for statistic treatment. Chi-square test was used for the comparison of frequency data between groups. Results: There were 1630 patients with 1665 focus, and 1559 focus were detected by both methods. Most of patients belonged to 40~59 age group. In the aspect of detection rate, mammography had higher rate in mostly fatty and scattered fibroglandular breast, but ultrasonography had advantages in extremely dense breast, and there were statistically significance between the three groups(P<0.05). In heterogeneously dense group, the detection rate of the two methods had no statistically significance( P>0.05). In the aspect of diagnosis rate, mammography had better diagnosis rate in mostly fatty and scattered fibroglandular breast. On contrary, ultrasonography was superior to mammography in heterogeneously and extremely dense breast. But none of the groups had statistically significance(P>0.05). Besides, we divided the focus to mass and non-mass type based on mammography image. As fibroglandular increased, the amount of mass type increased and non-mass type decreased. Conclusion: For stage T1 and Tis breast cancer, mammography had higher detection and diagnosis rate in mostly fatty and scattered fibroglandular breast, and ultrasonography had better rate in heterogeneously and extremely dense breast. There were some correlation between focus types based on mammography image and fibroglandular types.
