Objective:To analyze the maternal/neonatal complications and outcome in patients with three repeat cesarean sections, and then discuss the dangers of multiple repeat cesarean sections.Method:A retrospective case-control study from January 2006 to February 2016 in Women’s Hospital School of Medicine Zhejiang University of 260 pregnant women with 2 cesarean sections(CS) was compared with a control group of 519 women having 1 cesarean sections for maternal, operative and neonatal complications. Results:Compared with the control group, pernicious placenta previa (PPP) complicated with placenta accrete (PLA), placental abruption, pelvic adhesion, intraoperative bleeding volume, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), pregnancy gestational weeks, birth weight, preterm birth, Apgar scores< 7 at 1 minutes and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome were significant different in the study group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference of the pregnant age, the time between two cesarean deliveries, the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) & intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) & the gestational hypertension disease, and premature rupture of membrane between the two groups. Conclusion:The patients with three times of cesarean section have a higher risk of maternal and fetal adverse obstetric outcome than the patients with two times of cesarean section. It means multiple repeat cesarean sections will produce more harm to the pregnant woman. So the doctor should control the indications of cesarean section more strictly in clinical, and reduce the cesarean delivery rate for the first time.
