Cerebellar vascular disease is one of top lethal disease which endangered to human beings. Acute cerebral infarction accounted for over 70% of common vascular disease which is high mortality. Its complexity and variability on pathology causes treatment difficult. It can be classified as "Apoplexy" in Traditional Chinese Medicine. If we could improve treatment at the acute stage, patient will have more effective recovery. Liushichangyu decoction is a prescription which applied on Wind-Phlegm Blockage Channel Syndrome with cerebral infarction stroke use by wind and phlegm blokechannel invented by Dr. liu Shichang (National well-known former TCM practitioner). Liushichangyu decoction also shows impressive result on bulb paralysis caused dysphagia which is not been treated with effective way.ObjectiveReviewed all the patients with acute cerebral infarction in Neurology Department of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. To observe the treatment results on acute ischemic stroke patients with Wind-Phlegm Blockage Channel Syndrome and accessed recovery of dysphagia of bulb paralysis caused by applying Liushichangyu decoction.MethodsTheoretical research:Compiled all articles which related with pathology of ischemic stroke and clinical treatment approaches from modern and ancient TCM research. Clinical research:Reviewed patient data and filtered out whom is acute cerebral infarction in primary diagnosis of general medicine from Ward of Neurology and Golden harvest system in First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between 01/01/2013 31/12/2015. Classified the distribution of syndrome in TCM and chosen patients who met the criteria and divided the patients into two groups Liushichangyu decoction and decoction as Observation and Control group. Analyzed data with gender, age, disease progress, risk factors, pre-/post-treatment neurological function defects, TCM syndrome score and swallowing assessment score under SPSS 22 software.ResultsThe risk factors of cerebral infarction patients who presented with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, heart disease, coronary artery disease, smoke and alcoholism. Highly occurred in male than female with age between 59-79yrs. In 1081 ischemic stroke cases,93.71% of apoplexy involving channel with collateral (81.24% Wind-Phlegm lockage Channel Syndrome, following by blood stasis syndrome of qi deficiency, wind-fire upward disturbance syndrome and stirring wind with yin deficiency syndrome)and 6.29% of apoplexy involving zang and fu-viscera. On recovery of neurological function defects, total effective rate of observation group and control group is 94.87% and 94.19% respectively. Compare pre- and post- treatment after 10 days between the two groups with significantly changes on recovery of patients (P<0.01).TCM syndrome classification score of two groups, total effective rate of observation group and control group is 92.31% and 90.70% respectively. Results show that pre- and post- treatment after 10 days between the two groups with significantly difference (P<0.01). Swallowing function assessment score result suggest that total effective rate of observation group and control group is 92.31% and 73.68% respectively. Compare pre- and post- treatment after 10 days between the two groups have significantly difference(P<0.01). The treatment result of dysphagia shows observation group is more effective that control group (P<0.05). None of patient had side effects while administrated of Liushichangyu decoction and Banxia baizhu tianma decoction.ConclusionAcute ischemic stroke most presented with Wind-Phlegm Blockage Channel Syndrome in acute stage. Liushichangyu decoction has effective treatment results such as neurological function defects improved and lower TCM syndrome classification score on acute ischemic stroke. Especially on dysphagia of bulb paralysis caused has significant treatment results with non-side effects.
