ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation among fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FENO) and dialectical typing by traditional Chinese medicine and so on in AECOPD patients and to confirm the airway inflammation degrees in AECOPD patients. To provide some suggestions for the diagnosis and the evaluation of airway inflammation and the reference for the study of objective indicators of dialectical typing by traditional Chinese medicine in AECOPD patients.MethodsClinical research:selected the hospitalized 61 AECOPD patients between 47 and 87 years old as the research objects, collected the general information, completed the questionnaire, made tests with Sweden NIOX nitric oxide tester, then recorded the detected pulmonary fractions including FEV1% and FEV1/FVC%, and measured and recorded the value pf CRP within 24 hours.Results(1) The average FENO value in the hospitalized 61 AECOPD patients was (41.11±31.99) ppb, the maximum was 189ppb, and the minimum was 11ppb; (2) The difference in FENO among male and female groups was statistically significant (P<0.05), could think male FENO value was significantly lower than female. The difference in FENO value among different age groups was statistically insignificant (P>0.05). The difference in FENO value among different BMI groups was statistically insignificant (P>0.05); (3) The difference in FENO value among different FEV1/FVC% was statistically significant (P<0.05), and FEV1/FVC%<40% groups of FENO value was significantly lower than FEV1/FVC% 50-59 groups;(4) The difference in FENO value among different lung function classes was statistically significant (P<0.05), and FENO value was decreased following the decrease of lung function; (5) The difference in FENO value among different COPD assessment groups was statistically significant (P<0.05), and group B FENO value was significantly higher than that of group D; (6) FENO value was positively-correlated with FEV1%(γ=0.669, P=0.000), and the correlation with gender age、 body height、 body weight and so on was insignificant (P>0.05); (7) The types of syndrome in 61 AECOPD patients classified by traditional Chinese medicine and ascendingly sorted based on the incidence were:exogenous cold-evil and internalization, pulmonary stagnation of phlegm, phlegm-heat obstructing in the lung and attack of wind-cold on the lung, and the difference in FENO value among groups with different types of syndrome classified by traditional Chinese medicine was statistically insignificant(P>0.05).ConclusionFENO determination is of certain value for confirming the airway inflammation degree in AECOPD patients.
