In recent years, with the rapid development of social economy and continuous improvement of living standards, the health consciousness and concepts of peoples receiving medicine treatment have changed greatly, the traditional medical-seeking pattern which was dominated by the doctor can no longer satisfy people’s demand any more. So the article is to investigate residents’ treatment choice behavior and the influencing factors of Wuhan, find out the gap between the medical needs and the realistic hospitalized condition, then making suggestions for the medical institutions to promote suitable utilization of health resources.By using documentary analysis to collect and collate treatment choice behavior theories and the research status from overseas and domestic, then create the framework and research process of the study. By using the method of simple random sampling and stratified randomized sampling questionnaire investigation, we investigate patients’ treatment choice behavior and the influencing factors with three different levels of medical institutions. The questionnaire survey was strict quality controlled to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of data. This research altogether provides 260 investigating questionnaires, the actual recovery of 252 copies, of which 244 available questionnaires, the valid returned rate was 94%. We make descriptive statistical analysis, Chi-square test and Polynomial Logistic regression analysis of the data through SPSS 16.0 statistical software. The research results have shown that patients tended to visit grade 3 hospitals rather than other level hospitals. On the choice of treatment time, most patients tend to seek medical advice in the morning. On the choice of registration, the number of patients who choose to see a specialist doctor is higher than to see an ordinary doctor. The residents’ selection is inclined to high. From the angle of hospital management, the most critical influence of residents’ treatment choice is diagnosis and treatment level, and the areas of expertise, the following was medical charge level, medical service level, traffic accessibility, medical environment and so on. From the patient’s perspective, their demographic characteristics, for example, their monthly income level and physical condition have significant influence on their treatment choice.behavior. The patients who with lower income and in fair health tend to seek medical service from primary health care institutions, for the patients who with higher income and out of condition prefer to seek medical attention from the urban tertiary hospitals.According to the survey, we put forward some suggestions for the reform of medical institutions. First of all, the diagnosis and treatment level of grassroots medical institutions must be improved to promote the rationalization of the residents’ selection flow. Secondly, we should strengthen the cultivation of medical staff, in order to improve the service quality and patients’ satisfaction. Thirdly, the primary medical institutions’charge level should be lowered and the charged gap between different degree hospitals should be expanded. Fourthly, the service functions of different level medical institutions must be cleared to balance the medical supply and demand. Last but not least, we should strengthen the hospital Information construction, for example, establish the electronic health records and all-in-one card for the community residents, to improve the medical convenience of community health services institutions.
