Objective: To study the risk factors for bone mineral density reduction in male schizophrenia patients. And provide scientific basis for guiding bone health.Metheds: During the period of June 2014 to June 2015, 234 male patients with schizophrenia were divided into the hospitalization group( n=157) and the non-hospitalized group( n=77). The T-scores of the calcaneus bone mineral density(BMD) were measured in both groups. We compared the differences between the T-score(BMD measure) in the groups(hospitalization group, the non-hospitalized group), BMI(low BMI group, normal BMI group, high BMI group), prolactin(elevated and normal group), hypertension(non-hypertension group and hypertension group), diabetes mellitus(non-diabetic group, diabetic group), hyperlipidemia(non-hyperlipidemia and hyperlipidemia), combined therapy(single treatment and combined treatment), etc..Risk factors for low BMD were obtained by logistic regression. Then we obtained regression equation. The prediction and actual diagnosis were compared to assess the diagnostic value and accuracy of the model. Results: 1.The average T-score(BMD measure) of the trial group(the hospitalization group, low BMI group, elevated prolactin group, hyperlipidemia group) were significantly lower than that of the control group(non-hospitalized group, high BMI group, normal prolactin group, non-hyperlipidemia group)(P<0.05). whereas T-scores of the trial group(hypertension group, diabetic group, combined treatment group) did not have the significant differences with the control group(non-hypertension group,non-diabetic group,(single treatment group)( P>0.05).2.Logistic regression analysis showed:the course of disease,BMI,prolactin, hyperlipidemia and hospitalization were the main risk factors.Five indicator’s regression coefficient were(B=0.034,P=0.015)、(B=-0.209,P=0.000)、(B=1.283,P=0.000)、(B=0.913,P=0.013)、(B=0.679,P=0.045).The odds ratio of hyperlipidemia was 2.491(95%CI:1.216-5.105). The odds ratio of hospitalization was 1.972( 95%CI :1.014-3.832).2.The logistic regression equation was Logistic P=3.173+0.034×the course of disease-0.209×BMI+1.283×the elevated prolactin+0.913×hyperlipidemia+0.679×hospitalization.The sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accordance of the comprehensive prediction model was 76.9%, 67.3%, 74.8%.Conclusions:1. Low BMI 、 the elevated prolactin and Hyperlipidemia in male schizophrenia patients are the the risk factors for bone mineral density reduction.2.The course of the male patients with schizophrenia is another important factor that can reduce the bone mineral density.3.Long term hospitalization can also affect the bone density of male schizophrenic patients.
