Objective To investigate the risk factors or association factors of essential hypertension with children and adolescents and provide scientific evidence for prevention and management. Methods Relevant studies were searched using PubMed,ISI Web of Knowledge,Ovid,WangFang data, CNKI and VIP from January 2005 to December 2014.STATA 14.0 was applied for meta-analysis.After heterogeneity analysis influence factors(0R with 95 % CI)were estimated usmg fixed or random effect models. Sensitivity analysis were used for evaluating the robustness of the results.Publication bias was assessed by Egger’s test and funnel plot.Result A total of 44 studies were included. The pooled 0R and its 95%CI of different factors associated with hypertension among children and adolescent were:hypertension: overweight or obesity 4.83(3.90 to 5.97),waist circumstance 4.93(1.79 to 13.57),family history of hypertension 1.49(1.25 to 1.77),gender(male) 1.03(0.85 to 1.26),physical activities 0.75(0.59 to 0.97)and low birthweight0.82(0.69 to 0.96).prehypertension: overweight or obesity 3.21(2.54 to 4.00), waist circumstance 3.3(1.19 to 9.18),gender(male) 1.26(1.09 to 1.45).Conclusion current results indicate that overweight or obesity, waist circumstance and family history of hypertension are risk factors of hypertension among children and adolescents, overweight or obesity has the most important association.Gender(male) is not the risk factor of hypertensionr. Physical Activity is the protective factor.Overweight or Obesity, waist circumstance and Gender(male) are the risk factors of prehypertension among Children and adolescents. Objective To investigate risk factors or association factors of children essential hypertension in China and provide scientific evidence for prevention and management. Methods Relevant studies were searched using Pub Med, ISI Web of Knowledge,Ovid,Wang Fang data,CNKI and VIP from January 2005 to December 2014.STATA 14.0 was applied for meta-analysis.After heterogeneity analysis influence factors(0R with 95%CI)were estimated usmg fixed or random effect models.Sensitivity analysis were used for evaluating the robustness of the results.Publication bias was assessed by Egger’s test and funnel plot.Result A total of 16 studies were included. The pooled 0R and its 95%CI of different factors associated with hypertension among children and adolescent were:hypertension: overweight or obesity 4.87(3.26 to 7.27),family history of hypertension 1.41(1.22 to 1.64),gender(male) 1.25(0.83 to 1.88), Physical Activity 0.79(0.62 to 1.01).prehypertension: gender(male) 1.39(1.00 to 1.92).Conclusion Current results indicate that overweight or obesity and family history of hypertension are the risk factors of hypertension among Chinese children and adolescents. Gender(male) is not the risk factor. Physical Activity is not the protective factor.Gender(male) is not the risk factor of prehypertension among Chinese children and adolescents.
