Perioperative Management Of Chronic Suppurative Tympanitis Patients With Aging And Systematic Diseases

Objective: Surgical treatments for suppurative tympanitis patients with aging and combing basic diseases undoubtly mean high risk of complications during the perioperative period. The present study explored the feature of patient’s basic diseases, management principle, in aim to acquire a well maintain of the surgical safety and a cure opportunity for those patient with relative contraindication.Methods: From Jan. 2009 to Aug. 2013, a total of 194 cases of chronic suppurative tympanitis patients with aging and combing basic diseases were hospitalized for preoperative preparation at our department. Based on types of the systematic illness, the severity and medicine used before operation, the individual managements of perioperative period were performed. The rates of reasonable surgical practice, disease progression, as well as dry ears were used for evaluation of the efficacy of the perioperative management.Results: Among 194 cases, 4 cases of patients did not receive operation due to their basic diseases out of control and the rest 190 received operation with a rate at 97.9%. Of all operated patients, 71 cases(71/190, 37.4%) required re-control of basic disease treatment before operation. A total of 14 cases suffered worsening basic diseases after operation(14/190, 7.4%), including 7 cases of blood glucose disorder, 4 of blood pressure disorder, 1 of postoperative delirium, 1 of asthmatic attack, and 1 of cerebral. The rest 176 cases expressed stable condition after operation. All patients acquired dry ears and there was no case experiencing operation-related peripheral facial paralysis or sensorineural deafness after operations.Conclusion: The relevant measures based on the different types of basic disease might be help to provide a cure opportunity for chronic suppurative tympanitis patients in bad situation and decrease the rate of side-effect during the perioperative period.
