ObjectiveTo observe the clinical curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine prescription of Bushenzhuanggu decoction combined with percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic lumbar discectomy treatment of lumbar disc herniation and provide a reference for percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal approach discectomy on improving the treatment of lumbar disc herniation clinical efficacy.MethodsBy the method of prospective research,60 cases collected from the People’s Liberation Army 175 Hospital from February 2014 to July 2015 with leg pain caused by lumbar disc herniation with the need for Percutaneous Endoscopic Transforaminal discectomy surgical treatment were randomly divided into two groups according to the order of surgery:the conventional treatment group (control group,30 cases), conventional therapy plus Bushenzhuanggu decoction group (treatment group,30 cases). The observation point were the last day before surgery, first month after the surgery, three months after the surgery and six months, the follow-up observation period lasts for six months. By using visual analog scale (VAS),low back pain rating scale (JOA) and Oswestry lumbar dysfunction index (ODI) compare and evaluate the therapeutic efficiency of Bushenzhuanggu decoction on lumbar disc herniation after transforaminal endoscopic. All data were analysed by statistical software SSPS18.0. P> 0.05 shows no significant difference while P<0.05 was considered statistically significant difference.Results1. Gender, age, duration of time, segmental distribution, operative time and intraoperative blood loss between two groups showed no statistical significant (P> 0.05) which means that two groups were comparable.2. Postoperative VAS score, JOA score, ODI score were improved after the surgery in varying degrees, however postoperative VAS score, JOA score, ODI score after 1 month showed no significant difference between the two groups(P> 0.05).3. After 3 months, in control group, VAS pain score decreased to 3.03 ± 0.765 while the treatment group was 2.30 ± 0.651(P<0.05), significant difference between the two groups, the treatment group than the control group; JOA score increased to the control group 15.70 ± 0.907, the treatment group 16.90 ± 1.398, P<0.05, significant difference between the two groups, the treatment group than the control group; ODI score decreased to the control group 24.10 ± 1.373, the treatment group 22.60 ± 1.354, P<0.05, two groups with a statistically significant difference in the treatment group than the control group.4. After 6 months VAS pain score decreased to 0.67 ± 0.479 in the treatment group lower than 1.13 ± 0.507 in the control group(P<0.05). JOA score increased to 19.90 ± 0.845 in the treatment group higher than 17.70 ± 1.055 in the control group(P<0.05).ODI score decreased to 11.17 ± 1.510 in the treatment group quite lower than 11.17 ± 1.510 in the control group(P<0.05).All data pointed out that treatment group showed better clinical efficiency.ConclusionBushenzhuanggu decoction may improve the clinical efficacy of the treatment of lumbar disc herniation with the technique of the intervertebral foramen also shows quite a lot of advantages on the recovery of lumbar function of patients after operation and needs to be extensive applied.
