Through the general survey data of patients with ulcerative colitis, we combinate the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) with the psychological scale distribution of TCM syndrome type, and explore the relationship between UC patients with the anxiety, depression and TCM Distribution characteristics, to provide a basis for for the cooperation of Chinese and western medicine from the psychological intervention in the treatment of UC and to improve the quality of life.Methods:104 cases of patients with ulcerative colitis patients from the clinics and wards in Nanjing Chinese medicine hospital during the May 2015 to March 2016.Filling in the basic information, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and the TCM syndrome type, summarizing the resulting data, establishing the information databases, to statistics and analyse. SPSS19.0 software is used to analysis and processing, P<0.05 is statistically significant, P>0.05 is no statistical significant.Results:1.Among the 104 patients with UC, the minimum age of them is 17, the largest age is 67, and the average age is (39.38±12.37). The men’s average age is (37.70±12.41), when the women’s is (41.14±12.22) (Female:Male is 1.15:1). There is no significant difference appears between patients’age range and gender(P=992>0.05).2. Most patients account for about 54.8% with the degree of education degree or junior college and above. They account for the largest proportion of 26.9% with the nature work of business and service. Accounting for 27.9%, the most common predisposing factor is the mental and emotional factors. Followed by is the dietary factors, accounting for 20.2%. The majority of patients accounting for 66.3% has over 1 year Course of disease. Mayo index is given priority to with light activity, accounting for 53.8%.3.Distribution characteristics of TCM Syndrome Types:The largest number in the UC patients with stagnation of liver and weakness of the spleen is 30, accounting for 28.8%. Followed by is syndrome of the dampness-heat of large intestine, it is 23, accounting for about 22.1%. Occupying about 17.3% the patients’ number with the syndrome of intermingled cold and heat is 18. About 14 people accounting for 13.5% suffer from the syndrome of Spleen deficiency and dampness. The least number accounting for 7.7% of the patients is 8 suffering from the yin and blood deficiency.4.Correlation between UC and anxiety and depression:(1)State of Anxiety:Patients with UC are more anxious than normal people in different sex; The anxiety level of male is higher than female. In state anxiety, patients of the administration and management has the highest degree of anxiety in different jobs. In trait anxiety, business and service personnel have the highest level of anxiety. Farmers’anxiety level is the lowest. In the course of disease, the longer the duration is, the higher the degree of anxiety will be. In the stage of disease, There are statistically significant between the anxiety state of UC patients and the Mayo score.(P=0.03<0.05). (2) The depressive state:The degree of depression in patients with UC has nothing to do with sex, and is statistically significant between educational level (P=0.02<0.05), working character (P=0.017<0.05) and course of disease (P<0.05) Mayo score(P=0.03<0.05).5.Correlation between TCM Syndrome Types and state of anxiety and depression:The anxiety level of patients with stagnation of liver and weakness of the spleen syndrome is higher than that of the others. The largest number of patients is with liver stagnation and spleen deficiency, accounting for 50%. Type and anxiety of TCM (SAI:P=0.01<0.05; TAI:P=0.03<0.05) and depression (P=0.003<0.05) is significantly associated.Conclusion:1.The distribution is different among the different gender, age, educational level, job nature, course of disease and disease stage of ulcerative colitis patients.2.TCM Distribution:stagnation of liver and weakness of the spleen takes the main position, and the dampness-heat of large intestine syndrome subordinates.3.There are differences beween anxiety and depression state and the different gender, age, cultural level, job nature, course of disease and disease stage of patients.4.
