Objective:To study the clinical characteristics of patients with ulcerative colitis(UC),the incidence of anxiety and depression, and whether there is a correlation between anxiety, depression and disease severity,In other words, preliminary research on the general clinical characteristics of UC patients, whether anxiety and depression exist in UC patients and whether they are related to their grades. To explore the possible mechanisms between anxiety, depression and the onset of UC.And to provide a basis for clarifying the risk factors of UC and clinical psychotherapy. Methods:Selected UC patients who were hospitalized and outpatients in the First and Second Hospitals of Shanxi Medical University in Taiyuan from January 2019 to December 2020 as the UC group, and collected and analyzed general clinical data of the patients. The Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)compiled by Zung in 1971 were used to conduct a questionnaire survey of patients in the UC group. The control group chose the Chinese SAS and SDS scoring norms, and compared the two groups’ SDA and SAS standard scores respectively.According to the modified Mayo score, the UC group was divided into mild group and moderate-severe group, and the SAS and SDS scores of the two groups were compared.Use SPSS26.0 statistical software for statistical analysis of the data. Results:Among the 43 patients with UC included in this study, the average age was(49.98±16.63)years old.The main clinical symptoms were diarrhea(95%),mucus pus and blood in the stool(79.00%),tenesmus(60.40%)and fatigue(25.60%),fever(14.00%);The main clinical type is chronic relapse type(81.40%),chronic persistent type, and less initial onset;according to the disease staging standard,43 patients are in the active stage, and are divided into 13 mild cases,16 moderate cases, and 16 cases according to the degree of disease,14 severe cases;According to the colonoscopy report, the patient’s lesions were mainly full-colon type(20 cases),and the ratio of left hemi-colon type and rectal type was close. The SAS and SDS scores of the patients were higher than the national norm, and the difference was statistically significant(all P<0.05);Among UC patients, there are 20patients(46.5%)with anxiety,17 patients(39.5%)with depression, and 13 patients(30.2%)with coexistence of anxiety and depression. The patient’s age, gender, smoking, and alcohol consumption were not significantly related to whether they were associated with anxiety or depression(P>0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in SAS scores between employees and farmers in occupational factors(P<0.05).According to the modified Mayo score,UC patients were divided into mild group and moderate-severe group. There were 13 cases in the mild group and 20 cases in the moderate-severe group. There was no statistically significant difference in gender between the two groups and could be compared. The SAS and SDS scores of the group were lower than those of the moderate-severe group, and statistical analysis showed that the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The clinical symptoms of UC patients are mainly diarrhea, mucus pus and blood in the stool, tenesmus and fatigue. The clinical classification is mainly chronic recurrence, and the main lesion is the whole colon.Anxiety and depression are common in UC patients. The standard scores of SAS and SDS are higher than those of the normal population. With the worsening of the disease, the proportion of patients with anxiety and depression is increasing. Therefore,it is particularly important to pay attention to the psychological state of patients.
