ObjectiveThis research was through clinical research of Wind cough decoction in treating acute bronchitis caused by rhinovirus, to explain the relationship between rhinovirus and wind, to observe the improvement symptoms and the treatment effectiveness, to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Wind cough decoction. Finally make statistical analysis and clinical evaluation of the results, to discover the starting factor, the main symptoms, tongue and pulse characteristics and prognosis of acute bronchitis caused by rhinovirus.MethodsThe clinical trial design using random, positive drug control, subjects in Shenzhen hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2014 to August 2015 in Department of Respiration and Department of Emergency, who were diagnosed as acute bronchitis caused by rhinovirus patients 120 cases, were randomly divided into treatment group (Wind cough decoction group) 60 cases, the control group (Ribavirin effervescent granules group) 60 cases. The treatment group was treated with Wind cough decoction. The usual oral dose for adult was 180ml two times a day for one week, and 80ml two times a day for child. The control group received Ribavirin ef decoction fervescent granules. Adult took 0.15g,3 times a day for a week. Children took 10mg per kilogram of body weight,3 times a day for a week.ResultsThis study collected a total of 120 patients who were diagnosed as acute bronchitis caused by rhinovirus;and through the etiological research and statistics, we can reach the preliminary view that there is a close relationship between rhinovirus and TCM wind, rhinovirus infection of acute bronchitis in TCM equivalent of "cough". The pathogeny of cough is wind. The Initiation factors of acute bronchitis factors are starting with the epidemic season to the crowded public places, eating spicy fried food, feeling wind. The clinical manifestations of this disease were cough, expectoration, itchy throat, sore throat, air inverse feeling. The minor clinical symptoms were nasal congestion, runny nose, or fever, thirst. The patient’s tongue could be expressed as pale tongue, thin white or thin yellow; and pulse could be expressed as floating, floating and tight, or floating rapid pulse. The result showed that the total effective rate of the treatment group was 86.7%;while the total efficiency of the control group was 68.3%; the total effective efficiency of the treatment group compared with the control group was statistically significant (P<0.05). The clinical efficacy in treating of Wind cough decoction was much better than ribavirin effervescent granules, and we did not find side effects of the Wind cough decoction in this clinical observation. Conclusion:According to the clinical observation results, we can draw the following Conclusions:There was a close relationship between rhinovirus and TCM etiology of Wind; Acute bronchitis caused by rhinovirus infection was closely related to the cough caused by TCM etiology of Wind; The results show that wind cough decoction Treatment of acute bronchitis caused by rhinovirus infection in time to relieve symptoms and total efficiency compared with Ribavirin effervescent granules were significant differences (P<0.05).
