This master’s thesis is composed of three chapters. The researches about the chemical constituents of the rhizomes of Pueraria lobata and Pueraria thomsonii are discussed in chapters one and two. The advance about the species of Pueraria is summarized in chapter three.Thirty eight compounds(twenty five compounds without repetition), containing two new natural products, were isolated from the two above plants utilizing various chromatographic methods: silica gel, Rp-18, sephadex LH-20, et al. The structures of these compounds are flavones, triterpenoids, steroids, alkaloids et al.Pueraria lobata and Pueraria thomsonii, which belong to Pueraria, Leguminosea, were the primary source of the drug Ge Gen. They were firstly documented in the 2005 editions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia due to the difference of Puerarin content. Currently, the quality of a large amount of drugs or health care products that contains Ge Gen are difficult to control on account of the standard indicators by using Puerarin, extract and total flavonoids. Compared with P. lobata, The Puerarin content of P. thomsonii is lower, however, the price is higher and it is more used to be applied in clinical. In order to discover active substance, explore the quality control indicators and methods, guarantee the safety of medication, illuminate the foundation of medication, the researches about the chemical constituents of P. lobata and P. thomsonii were carried out relying on the the advantage of material.Nineteen compounds were isolated from ethanol extract of the plants of P. lobata which were picked in Chu Xiong, Yunnan province. These compounds are composed of isoflavones, isoflavone glycosides, flavonoid glycoside, puerosides, alkaloids, triterpenoids, steroids, aliphatic acids, et al. Corylin(compounds 9) was isolated from the root of Ye Ge for the first time. 5-Hydroxy-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-b- enzo[c]azepin-1-one(compounds 12) and 4-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-benzoic acid(compounds 16) were isolated from Pueraria plants for the first time.Nineteen compounds were isolated from ethanol extract of the plants of P. thomsonii.Compounds 1, 3, 5, 7~8, 10~19 were isolated from this plant for the first time, Trans-p-coumaroyl glycolic acid(compound 15)was a new natural product. These compounds are composed of isoflavones, isoflavone glycosides, puerosides, triterpenoids, steroids, aliphatic acids, et al.The advance of the past thirty years about the species of Pueraria which include the herbology, resources, chemical constituents, bioactivities and clinical application, is summarized in chapter three viewing to provide refrences for the in-depth research and exploitation on the plants of Pueraria.
