Objective To investigate the psychological distress, self-disclosure and intimacy of patients with gynecological cancer and their partners, and to explore the path relationship among the three aspects. As a result of it, the research of the relationship intimacy model of couple adaptation to cancer in our country will be definitely enriched. It will provide the theory basis for the research on the evaluation of couple-based self-disclosure intervention for psychological distress and intimacy of gynecological cancer patients and their partners.Methods 191 patients with gynecological cancer and their partners from 8 tertiary hospitals were investigated. The patients with gynecological cancer completed the general data questionnaire, DM, DDI, Short Marital Adjustment and Prediction Test .Their partners completed the general data questionnaire, DT, DDI, Short Marital Adjustment and Prediction Test. SPSS18.0 statistical analysis of data was used. Effective data is analyzed using the method of descriptive statics, correlation, univariate analysis, regression and medial analysis.Results (1) The prevalence of psychological distress of patients with gynecological cancer and their partners were 77% and 64.4%. There was significant difference in the scores of psychological distress among patients with different demographic characteristics including education level and monthly income (P<0.05).There was a significant difference in DT score of partners with different education level (P<0.05). The scores of DDI among gynecological cancer and their partners were 41(32~47) and 39(29~47). There was significant difference in the scores of DDI among patients with different demographic characteristics including provider payments and residence (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the scores of DDI among partners with demographic characteristics(P> 0.05). The scores of intimacy among patients with gynecological cancer and their partners were (116.23±17.49) and 118(104~127). There was significant difference in the scores of intimacy among patients with different residence (P<0.05). There was significant difference in the scores of intimacy among partners with demographic characteristics including age, education level, treatment methods (P<0.05). (2) Correlation analysis:the scores of DDI, Short Marital Adjustment and Prediction Test and DT were negatively correlated among patients with gynecological cancer and their partners (P<0.05). (3) Regression analysis: self-disclosure and intimacy had statistical significance in regression equation (P< 0.05), and it was suitable for both patients and partners. (4) Bootstrap medial analysis: intimacy took partial effects as a mediator in self-disclosure as to affect psychological distress, and it was suitable for both patients and partners.Conclusions:Psychological distress in patients with gynecological cancer and their partners can not be ignored. In this study, there were 77% and 64.4% patients with gynecological cancer and their partners had clinical significance of psychological distress. There were significantly correlation among self-disclosure, intimacy and psychological distress. self-disclosure and intimacy were the major influencing factors of psychological distress in gynecological cancer and their partners, furthermore, intimacy took partial effects as a mediator in self-disclosure as to affect psychological distress. The tips can be from the management level of self-disclosure and intimacy to improve psychological distress of Gynecological Cancer patients and partners.
