Objective:To explore the clinical application of theStapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) in the treatment of rectocele.Methods:77 cases of rectocele at the department of colorectal surgery from 2011.9-2015.9 were analysed retrospectively. Among these,61 cases (observation group) were received STARR and 16 cases (control group) received traditional khubchandani surgery. We compared time, the amount of bleeding during surgery and hospital stays, complications as well as clinical symptoms improved conditions after surgery. The clinical efficacy was evaluated via statistical analysis.Results:77 cases were all females, among which 10 cases belonged to rectocele Ⅱ,51 Ⅲ,23 with mucosal prolapse(observation group); 3 rectocele Ⅱ,13 Ⅲ,3 with mucosal prolapse(control group). All the patients were received surgery treatment. Observation group had the advantages in the time, amount of bleeding during surgery and hospital stays over the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of complications didn’t have the significant differences between the two groups (P=0.08). The improvement rate after STARR surgery was higher than the control group, but it didn’t have the significant difference(P=0.93).Conclusion:STARR surgery holds the advantages of convenience, safety, effectiveness, shorter surgery time, less bleeding, in the treatment of RC.
