Background:Depression is a common mood disorder, its main clinical features are durable and significantly low mood that not commensurate with their situation. The pathogenesis of depression is not clear by far, and the existing diagnosis methods have certain limitations and subjectivity. So looking for a new clinical diagnosis and evaluation method becomes an important issue in the field of depression research. Objective:This research uses event related potential(ERP) technical for analyzing the waveform characteristics of depression patients in different task scenario, and analyzes the electrophysiological mechanism changes in time domain of face detection and attention distribution function of the patients. Also it explores the cognitive function characteristics of the patients, and provides theoretical basis for searching the pathogenesis of depression and enrich the new index system of clinical diagnosis, and confirms that Chinese medicine is effective in improving patients face detection and distribution of attention function. Methods: Aimed at the 48 cases of psychiatric inpatients and outpatients in the People’s Liberation Army third hospital and 50 cases of healthy subjects, using ERP to analyze their face detection and distribution of attention function in Oddball model, measure the temporal occipital N170(150~180 ms) and the frontal area P200 incubation period(150~220 ms), amplitude and the corresponding behavior data of these subjects. Then, use ERP to measure the patients again after 8 weeks treatment with Qi Shen Fu Kang capsule, and compared the results with the data that before treatment and the healthy subjects.Results:1.Compared with control group, the experimental group before treatment show that temporal occipital area forward and inversion face N170 incubation period are lengthen on electrophysiological index, the amplitude is reduced, the phenomenon of function lateralization of the forward and inversion face are all disappear, it indicates that theface detection function of the patients is damaged. Compared with treatment before, the face forward and inversion N170 incubation period of experimental group after treatment shortens, the amplitude increases, and there is no significant difference with control group, but the phenomenon of face forward and inversion function lateralization still not appear.2.Compared with control group, the experimental group before treatment show the target stimulus recognition accuracy significantly reduced on behavior index, the incubation period of top frontal area P200 is significantly prolong in electrophysiological index, the amplitude decreases, it indicates the attention allocation mechanism of the patients is abnormal. Compared with treatment before, the target stimulus recognition accuracy of the experimental group after treatment increased significantly, the incubation period is significantly shortened, and there is no significant difference compared with control group. The amplitude increases significantly compared with treatment before, but it is still significantly lower than the control group. Conclusion: 1. The face detection function of depression patients is damaged; 2.The abnormal attention allocation mechanism of depression patients can be appeared in the distribution phase; 3. As an effective diagnosis of depression cognitive impairment objective measures, the event related potential technology is worth exploring and researching much further; 4. Traditional Chinese medicine is effective in treatment of depression and recovery of cognitive function.
