| Objective To explore the impact of region, gender, ethnic group, age, urban and rural factors on prevalence rate of early childhood caries among Uyghur and Han children in Kashi and Yining regions. Method Using a multistage, random, stratified and cluster sampling method in both two regions. The oral health status of 3-5 years old Uygur and Han children were recorded. Pearson chi-square was used in comparing of the caries prevalence rate. Region, gender, ethnic group, age, urban and rural factors were performed by logistic regression analyze. Results: 1.1984 Uyghur and Han children were clinically oral examined. The prevalence of caries of Kashi and Yining regions respectively are 74.58%, 81.24%. The prevalence of caries on the age distribution difference in two regions were statistically significant(P<0.05). The filling rate of dental caries in two region is 0.73%, 1.66% respectively, and there were statistically significant difference on the distribution of ethnic group, urban and rural areas in the two areas(P<0.05). 2. Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors of early child caries were Yining region [OR=1.573, 95%CI(1.252, 1.977), P<0.001], and higher age [OR=1.674, 95%CI(1.439, 1.947), P<0.001]. The risk factors of severe early childhood caries were are higher age [OR=1.169, 95%CI(1.02, 1.329), P=0.017] and live in rural areas [OR=1.531, 95%CI(1.228, 1.909), P<0.001]. The protective factor of severe early childhood caries was Uyghur nationality [OR=0.759, 95%CI(0.605, 0.952), P=0.017]. Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of ECC in both Kashi and Yining regions. To formulate the prevention strategies of early childhood caries, factors of region, the urban and rural should take into consideration. |
