Objective: By detecting chemokine receptor 4(CXCR4) and the chemokine factor receptor 7(CXCR7) expression in colorectal cancer, explored the correlation of CXCR4 and CXCR7 and the relation between these two proteins and the clinical pathological characteristics of colorectal cancer(gender, age, tumor size, tumor location, differentiated types, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, liver metastasis, TNM stage). We want to look for some clues for the further study of CXCR4 and CXCR7 in colorectal cancer development, especially the role of colorectal cancer liver metastasis. Methods: We had collected 55 cases of colorectal cancer paraffin specimens and normal tissue adjacent to carcinoma paraffin specimens from the North Sichuan Medical College Affiliated Hospital In January 2013 to July 2014,using immunohistochemical method(SP method) detect the CXCR4 and CXCR7 two kinds of proteins expression, to explore the correlation of CXCR4 and CXCR7 and the relation between these two proteins and the clinical pathological characteristics of colorectal cancer(gender, age, tumor size, tumor location, differentiated types, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, liver metastasis, TNM stage). All data was analyzed by SPSS20.0 software. Results: The positive expression rate of CXCR4 in colorectal cancer tissues was 69.1%,the positive expression rate in normal tissue adjacent to carcinoma was 21.8%,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The positive expression rate of CXCR7 in colorectal cancer tissues was 63.6%,the positive expression rate in normal tissue adjacent to carcinoma was 18.2%,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The CXCR4 expression difference between groups in colorectal cancer patients with gender(P = 0.905), age(P = 0.768), tumor size(P = 0.732),tumor site(P = 0.620) was statistically significant(P > 0.05),and the difference between groups with the differentiation types(P = 0.035), infiltration depth(P = 0.002),lymph node metastasis(P = 0.002),liver metastasis(P = 0.016),TNM stage(P = 0.000) was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The CXCR7 expression difference between groups in colorectal cancer patients with gender(P = 0.567), age(P = 0.714), tumor size(P = 0.681),tumor location(P = 0.672) was statistically significant(P > 0.05), and the difference between groups with the differentiation types(P = 0.012),infiltration depth(P = 0.002), lymph node metastasis(P = 0.001),liver metastasis(P = 0.005),TNM stage(P = 0.000) was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Both CXCR4 and CXCR7 expressed in colorectal cancer, 31 cases co-expressed in 55 cases of colorectal cancer specimens, the positive co-expression rate of 56.3%,using the linear correlation analysis concluded that the correlation coefficient r = 0.558(P < 0.01),they were positively correlated. Conclusion: CXCR4 and CXCR7 were related to the occurrence, development of colorectal cancer and they maybe both participated the invasion and metastasis process of colorectal cancer, but the relationship between these two chemkines and the differentiation process, liver metastasis process especially heterochrony liver metastasis of colorectal cancer remains to be further study.CXCR4 and CXCR7 had a synergistic effect during the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer, they would be Colorectal cancer potential therapeutic targets, We would benefit more in Diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of colorectal cancer if we payed attention to both CXCR4 and CXCR7 at the same time.
