Objective:From the perspective of comprehensive, objective, scientific analysis of traditional Chinese medicine by the theory of acting on brain channel, In order to enrich the connotation and evidence of the theory of Chinese herbal channel tropism. To provide scientific and effective reference and medication guide for clinical treatment of encephalopathy.Methods:Search literature with "Chinese herbal channel tropism" "channel tropism to the brain" and "traditional Chinese medicine encephalopathy" as the core keywords from CNKI series Chinese database, Wanfang database, VIP Chinese journal full text database from 1989 to 2015,also reference to related books and ancient works of traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine library, excerpt, compile and summarize the relevant content. Discussion and analysis with vertical sequence and horizontal expansion that based on the line of historical development.Results:Traditional Chinese medicine has definite therapeutic effect on the clinical symptoms of cerebral lesions. The history of literature, the theory of traditional channel tropism and the modern scientific research show that the Chinese medicine has characteristics that acting on brain channel. In the clinical treatment of encephalopathy, traditional Chinese medicine also show unique effect and advantage.Conclusion:The Chinese medicine has characteristics of acting on brain channel, exploring the drug channel tropism to the brain is good for enriching channel tropism theory and drug properties theory of traditional Chinese medicine, it has an important guiding significance for clinical treatment of encephalopathy.
