ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of moxibustion combined with Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure for the posterior canal Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.Method60 patients have divided into the curative group and control group randomly. For control group, we use Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure only. While for curative group, we combine moxibustion and Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure. By using Dizziness Handicap Inventory, evaluate the dizzy condition of the two groups before and after the treatment, follow-up visits four weeks and eight weeks.ResultThere doesn’t exist significant difference in age, gender, course of disease, and scores before the treatment between these two groups (P>0.05). No attrition and behavior of rejecting cases happened during the experimental progress. After the treatment, the total effective rate of curative group is 96.6% while the control group is 86.67%. There has no difference between them (P>0.05). The total effective rate of curative group is higher than the control group while the ineffective rate of curative group is lower than the control. The curative group has more clinical efficacy than the control group.DHI analysis resultCompared between the two groups, there is no significant difference in E,F, P, T (P>0.05). There is significantly difference in F,P,T (P<0.05), but no difference in E(P>0.05) at the follow-up visit four weeks. All terms exist significant difference at the follow-up visit eight weeks(P<0.05). All the terms in curative group are remarkably lower than that in control group. In the curative group, compared with the grade for the E,F,P before the treatment, there exist significant difference in both that after the treatment, follow-up visit four weeks and follow-up visit eight weeks (P <0.05). In the control group, compared with the grade before the treatment, all terms re obviously different in both that after the treatment, follow-up visit four weeks and follow-up visit eight weeks (P<0.05) except for the E(P>0.05). Both of two groups can improve the symptoms of vertigo and the effect is nearly the same. But the long-dated curative effect in curative group is better than that in control group.Conclusion1. The method of moxibustion combined with Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure for the posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo has certain curative effect. The curative effect can long exist even after stopping the cure.2. The method of moxibustion combined with Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure for the posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo can improve the symptom of vertigo as well as the symptoms after the successful treatment.3. The method of moxibustion combined with Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure for the posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo has effect in anxiety, panic and other psychological symptoms.4. The method of moxibustion combined with Epley-Canalith repositioning procedure for the posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo has certain effect, it’s safe and worthy of promotion. It may provide new ideas for the clinical treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
