Objective:To explore the possible correlation between type 2 diabetes and mild cognitive impairment. Methods : 48 patients with type 2 diabetes who admitted to the Department of Endocrinology of the Second People’s Hospital of Changshu from October in 2014 to September in 2015 were included into the present study, and 27 healthy subjects as control group. All subjects received the clinical, biochemical examination and provide detailed medical histories and demographic data. Neurocognitive function was evaluated by mini-mental state examination(MMSE)and Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA).The scores of MMSE and MoCA of the two groups were compared, and correlation factor was analysed. Results:The score of MMSE of type 2 diabetic group was significantly lower than that of healthy control. The score of MoCA of type 2 diabetic group was significantly lower than that of healthy control. In all subjects, logistic regression analysis showed that the decreased MMSE score was related to older age, female, lower education level and diabetes;the MoCAscore was related to older age, lower education level, diabetes and the presence of carotid artery plaque.while in diabetic patients, the decreased MMSE score was only related to older age and female, the decreased Mo CA scorewas related to older age and the use of insulin. Conclusion:The present study suggests a poosible correlation between type 2 diabetes and mild cognitive impairment, preventing and treating type 2diabetes might contribute to prevent or delay the occurrence of mild cognitive impairment.
