Objective To investigate the clinical features and prevention measures of severe drug eruption. Methods Clinical data of Patients suffered from severe drug eruption in our department from August 2002 to November 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Results A total number of 85 patients with the mean age of 45.48±19.32 years were hospitalized in this time period, of which 54.12% were males. The ratio of male to female was 1.18:1. SJS was the most common SCADRS, which accounted for 37.65%. Infections was the most common reason for drug intake, followed by epilepsy and gout. The top three sensitization drugs were antibacterial agents, antiepileptic drugs and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Allergy-induced by traditional Chinese patent drug had less damage to internal organs. Carbamazepine-induced severe drug eruption was mainly SJS and TEN. We found Dress group was significantly higher than SJS group and ED group in the abnormal rate of blood and electrolytes respectively. The urine abnormal rate of TEN group was higher than that of ED (P<0.05).61 of 85 cases were cured,23 cases improved, only 1 case died of pulmonary infection and respiratory failure. Conclusion Severe drug eruption is a dangerous dermatology disease. Early combination of hormone and immunoglobulin can achieve better effect. Symptomatic and supportive treatment should be strengthened at the same time.
