In recent years, a highly innovative, revolutionary surgical approach: Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy (ALPPS) have attracted great attention in liver surgery field. Its powerful ability of inducing proliferation of remnant liver brings hope to some of the patients with high T staging to accept a radical resection. In this paper, we reviewed the current status of treatment for advanced liver cancer, and made a review about the discovery, development, indications, contraindications, complications, surgical procedures, mechanisms of ALPPS.
