Abstract/Summary:
Purpose:The aim of this study was to compare the clinical efficacies of lacrimal duct embolization and autologous serum eye drops in the treatment of dry eye. Methods:Patients with dry eye that treated in the first affiliated hospital of Chongqing medical university between January 2013 and February 2015 were included (n=54;108 eyes). The ages of patients range from 22 to 74.They were divided into two groups according to their treatment.52 eyes of total cases treated with combined lacrimal duct embolization and autologous serum eye drops was Group A; the rest of 39 eyes treated with only autologous serum eye drops was Group B. Both Group A and B were evaluated for corneal fluorescein staining(CFS),tear break-up time(BUT). and Schirmer’s test Ⅰ (SIt) before and 2 weeks after the treatment. All acquired data was analyzed statistically. Results:Group A was apparently different from Group B in CFS, BUT and SIt before and after the treatment, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.01, P<0.05, P<0.01).Conclusions:Combined lacrimal duct embolization and autologous serum eye drops has obvious clinical efficacies on the treatment of dry eye than only treated with autologous serum eye drops.
