ObjectiveBy detecting the ankle brachial index and plasma homocysteine level in the two groups of subjects. One was type 2 diabetic patients, the other is type 2 diabetic patients with acute myocardial infarction. To investigate the relationships between the ankle brachial index and homocysteine in type 2 diabetes with acute myocardial infarction.Methods30 cases of observation group were type 2 diabetes with acute myocardial infarction, which treated in Cardiovascular Department of Linyi City People’s Hospital between January 2013 and July 2013, included 22 male patients and 8 female patients. This group of patients should be stable hemodynamics, without heart failure and ventricular arrhythmia and other complications. Another 30 cases of control group were not with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events. By ECG, heart color Doppler examination to exclude the painless myocardial infarction, the brain CT, MRI examination to exclude cerebral infarction. They also treated in Endocrinology Department of Linyi City People’s Hospital, included 16 male patients and 14 female patients. Diabetes diagnosis accorded with the diagnostic standard guidelines for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes in 2012 chinese, and two group of patients in the past six months without taking folic acid or vitamin B group of drugs. And exclusion of patients with type 1 diabetes and gestational diabetes mellitus. Recorded the two groups age, smoking history, duration of diabetes, blood pressure, blood glucose, blood lipid detection index. At the same time, Ankle brachial index (ABI) and homocysteine (Hcy) were observed.ResultsThere were no statistical differences in the average age, sex, smoking history, duration of diabetes, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and low density lipoprotein cholesterol between two groups (P>0.05). The average ankle brachial index of observation group was 1.03± 0.10, and which of control group was 1.10±0.06, there was statistically significant differences between two groups (P< 0.01). The average homocysteine of observation group was 12.59±4.26 umol/L, and which of control group was 9.65±2.42 umol/L, there was statistically significant differences between two groups (P<0.01). There was negative correlation between ABI and Hcy(r=-0.292, P<0.05) in type 2 diabetic patients.ConclusionAnkle brachial index and homocysteine are associated with acute myocardial infarction among type 2 diabetic patients. There was negative correlation between ankle brachial index and homocysteine in type 2 diabetic patients.
