Objective:The aim of this study was to compare the seizure outcome of standard anterior temporal lobectomy (ATL) and selective amydalohippocam pectomy (SelAH) in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. Methods:We included 87 patients who had temporal lobe epilepsy.62 patients had standard ATL, and 25 patients underwent SelAH.Results:After 6 months to 3 years of follow-up, forty-six patients (74.2%) became seizure-free after ATL and 18 patients (72.0%) after SelAH with reference to Engel’s score. There was no significant difference in the seizure outcome between the two groups(P=0.834).Conclusion:Both ATL and SelAH has been shown to be beneficial for the temporal lobe epilepsy patients. The seizure-free rates after the two groups were not statistically significant. |
