Topics:CLINICAL OBSERVATIONS ON THE EFFICACY OF SCALP ACUPUNCTURE AND FOOT YANGMIN MERIDIAN ROW ACUPUNCTURE ON PATIENTS WITH LOWER LIMB SPASTIC PARALYSIS AFTER STROKEObjectives:To make clinical observations on the efficacy of the combination of scalp acupuncture and row acupuncture of Yangming Meridian on patients with lower limbs spastic paralytic after strokeMethods:1.64 patients, which with lower limb spastic paralysis after stroke and in line with the screening criteria, were randomly divided into two groups. Treatment Group and Control Group, each contains 32 patients.2. The Treatment Group patients received scalp acupuncture along with Foot Yangmin Meridian row acupuncture, while the Control Group received traditional acupuncture treatments.3. Both groups received 6 acupuncture therapies per week and the treatment cycle was four weeks. This research was designed to measure the efficacy comparisons after patients completed the whole treatment cycle.4. Four indexes were used for the comparison basis. They are Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Motor Recovery after Stroke(FMA), Brunnstrom Motor Stage Assessment (Lower Limb), Modified Ashworth Scale and Composite Spasticity Index(CSI).Results:For both groups, the scores of four measurement indexes were significantly improved after the treatment cycle (P<0.05). After the treatment cycle, the Treatment Group had better efficacy than the Control Group (P<0.05). Treatment group had overall efficacy of 96.88%, while the Control group of 87.50%.Conclusions:1. Both the scalp acupuncture along with Foot Yangmin Meridian row acupuncture and traditional acupuncture can be effective and efficient therapy techniques to improve the clinical spastic situations, and to improve the lower limb motor function.2. Scalp acupuncture along with Foot Yangmin Meridian row acupuncture can be one of the alternatives for the patients with lower limb spastic paralysis after stroke. |
