Objective Explore the relationship between serum level of six trace elements (Fe, Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn and Pb) and Tourette Syndiome(TS) with yin deficiency wind stirring type and put forward novel diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Methods 70 boy, aged from 7 to 10 years old, were chose in the research,35 in experimental group while 35 in control group. The data of patients were collected from Chinese Medicine hospital of Zhejiang province in July to December in 2015. All participants signed an informed consent before they participated in the study. The patients in experimental group satisfied the diagnostic criteria of Tourette Syndiome and yin deficiency wind stirring syndrome types.2-3 mL fasting blood of the subjects were extracted and the separated serum was persevered in the -80℃ refrigerator. The serum level of five trace elements(Fe, Ca, Mg, Cu and Zn) were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry while the serum lever of Pb were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. SPSS18.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results Statistical methods of paired sample test were undertook to find difference between two the groups. Results showed that, compared with the control group, the serum level of Fe and Zn in experimental group is significantly lower while Pb is higher (P<0.05). The serum lever of Ca, Cu and Mg showed no statistical differences (P>0.05).Conclusion ①the abnormal serum level of Fe, Zn and Pb might pathogenic factor of yin deficiency.② the determination serum level of Fe, Zn and Pb can be helpful in the diagnosis of TS.③ supplementation of iron, zinc and promotion lead discharge might be an adjuvant therapy for TS patients with yin deficiency wind stirring type.
