Aims:To investigate the prognostic factors of adult hepatoblastoma and provide an optimal selection of more effective treatment algorithms for this disease. Here, we reported one case dignosed as adult hepatoblastoma who received the treatment in our hospital. Univariate and multivariate analysis were applied after Chinese literature review and follow-up data collection. Methods:Clinical data of one case in our hospital and 41 cases with adult hepatoblastoma from Chinese literature were retrospectively analyzed by SPSS 19.0. Kaplan-Meier survival estimates were used for the 5-year survival and median survival time of patients in these literatures. In univariate analysis, various factor influencing overall survival was compared using the log-rank test; to explore the independent risk factors, factors found significant on univariate analysis were further calculated using Cox proportional hazard regression model. Results:By log-rank test analyses, the survival rate of the patients with the age of>70 years old, multiple tumors, or after palliative treatments and pathologically confirmed embryonal type were significantly decreased(P<0.05). In multivariate Cox analyses, no independent risk factor was found.Discussion:So far, surgical resection is still the most effective measure treatment to cure the adult hepatoblastoma. To some certain, preoperative chemotherapy is effective. It remains further comfirmed by large sample size analyses that the pathology type, tumor number and the way of treatment may be the prognosis risks in these patients with hepatoblastoma.
