Objective:To study the short-term effect of tympanoplasty with titanium ossicular prosthesis for treatment of chronic suppurative otitis media(CSOM) and cholesteatoma. Methods:The data of 67 patients (69 ears) with CSOM and cholesteatoma from October 2010 to January 2014 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were treated by tympanoplasty with PORP or TORP with titanium ossicular prosthesis. The efficacy was assessed after 1-6 months (3.8±2.2 months) follow up.Results:The pure tone average (PTA) of patients in PORP group was improved from (36.20±10.60) dB HL to (23.42±9.46) dB HL (P<0.05) with a success rate of 64.71%. The PTA of patients in TORP group was improved form (36.94±11.23) dB HL to (24.38±13.01) dB HL (P<0.05) with a success rate of 55.56%. No severe complication was found. Conclusion:Titanium ossicular prosthesis is an ideal prosthesis for tympanoplasty. |
