Application Of Titanium Ossicular Prostheses In Tympanoplasty

Pursue:To explore the effect of titanium ossicular protheses in tympa-noplasty and observe postoperative hearing results and complications.Metheds:A retrospective review was perfomed on25patients whounderwent ossiculoplasty with titanium ossicular protheses from October2010to December2011,and19patients who use self-bone as the control grupe.allthe data of follow-up cases are complete.There are chronic suppurative otitismedia23ears(titanium10ears、self-bone13ears),cholesteatoma otitis media12ears(titanium10ears、self-bone2ears),tympanosclerosis9ears(titanium5ears、self-bone4ears).There are24left ears,20right ears,19male cases and25female cases,the patients’ age from9to68years old.Self-bone concludeself-incus(10ears),self-malleus(4ears),self cortical bone(5ears).Titaniumossicular prostheses from the companys of Medtonic Xomed andSPIGGLETHEIS,we use PORP19ears and TORP6ears.We analyze thedifference of two gropesin gender、tympanic membrane healing rate、 twosurgical metheds and complications and hearing results.Result:(1)Two gropes of patients are without gender difference.(2)Thereis no difference in tympanic membrane healing rate between the titaniumossicular prostheses grope and self-bone grope.(3)Regardless of theimplantation of either protheses, there is no difference between the twosurgical techniques of preoperative and postoperative ABG.(4)There is nodifference of the postoperative ABG between the ttitanium ossicular prothesesgrope and self-bone grope.(5)There is no significant of hearing change of TS、COM and cholesteatoma otitis midia.(6)The rate of complications in twoprostheses is of no significant difference.Conclusion:(1)Both prostheses have the feature of good biocompatibility, no rejection,and a high success rate.(2)self-bone can’t be absorbed easily inshort time,but the grinding time-consuming and long-term degeneration may beresidual lesions;titanium ossicular prostheses are of different length andsizes,they are easy to use.but they are so expensive that many patients can’tafford them.(3) There is no significant differerce titanium ossicular prosthesesand self-bone in the improvement of hearing in tympanoplasty.
