Objective:To ivestigate the clinical characteristics, methods of diagnosis and treatment of giucagonoma.Methods:The age, gender, clinical, sites and size of lesions, metastases, sugery, pathological examination and follow-up data of 70 cases collected from 101 Chinese publications in the Chinese literature dealing with giucagonoma from 1981 to 2012, were reviewed and analyzed.Results:In those patients,34 cases were male and 36 female.Average age at diagnosis was 48.8 years (rang 28-79).Necrolytic migratory erythema (NME) was seen at diagnosis in 60 cases, Diabetes mellitus (DM) in 56, weight loss in 50, anemia in 37, and glossitis/stomatitis/cheilitis in 39.In 56 patients for whom sites of lesions were recorded,25 cases’s (44.6%) tumors localized in the body and tail of pancreas.The livers were involved in 34 patients at diagnosis.Surgery was underwented in 50 cases(50/70; 71.4%).Conclusion:A glucagonoma is a highly metastatic tumor, which might has multicentric origin and spread to the whole in the pancreas, and surgery is its most effective and radical treatment.
