Isolated diastolic hypertension(IDH), a subtype of hypertension, refers to the systolic blood pressure is less than 140 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure is greater than or equal to 90 mm Hg. Besides, some researchers believed that IDH may have same physiology with Predominant Diastolic Hypertension (PDH), a subgroup of Systolic Diastolic Hypertension (SDH) characterized by narrow pulse pressure. IDH is popular in middle-young men, and more likely transform to SDH. Previous studies have suggested that IDH has a favorable prognosis and do not require treatment, but recent researches believe that IDH is an independent risk factor of stroke and other cardiovascular disease. Therefore, more attention should be paid to IDH. Here, I will review the relevant progress of IDH..
