Objective To explore the characteristics of carotid atherosclerosis in H-type hypertension and the possible mechanism. Methods One hundred and forty-five hypertensive patients adimitted to Binzhou Medical College Hospital from June 2012 to June 2013.All the participants are divided into H-type hypertension group (Hcy≥10μmol/1) and non-H-type hypertension group (Hcy<10μmol/l).Normal volunteers served as a control grope.Their carotid artery intim-media thickness(IMT)、quantity and nature of the plaque and the ox-LDL、 hs-CRP、IL-6 level were measured and compared. Results (1) The level of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL), carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) in H-type hypertension grope were higher than those of non-H-hypertensive group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The same result were also found when compared with the control grope. The rate of soft plaque was higher in H-type hypertension group. Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that positive correlation can be found between ox-LDL and IMT in H-type hypertension grope. The difference was statistically significant (r=0.672,P<0.05).But this relationship can not be found in non-H-type hypertension grope and.the control grope.(2) In hypertension grope, the IL-6 and hs-CRP levels were higher than the control group.Compared with the non-H-type hypertension grope, IL-6 and hs-CRP levels were higher in H-type hypertension grope. Pearson correlation analysis shows,IMT was positively correlated with IL-6,and hs-CRP in H-hypertensive and non-hypertensive group. Correlation coefficients were 0.354,0.446 respectively. The difference was statistically significant. And it can not be found in the control grope. Conclusion H-type hypertension patients prone to vulnerable carotid atherosclerosis. And closely related to the level of plasma ox-LDL、IL-6 and hs-CRP. Oxidative stress and inflammation may be the main mechanism of vulnerable carotid atherosclerosis in H-type hypertension patients.
