Objective To compare the difference on cognitive function in old patients suffering from the gastrointestinal malignant tumors and the non-malignant tumor diseases, and the preliminary findings are useful for the clinical prevention of postoperative cognitive dysfunction for further clinical studies and treatment. Methods From November 2014 to January 2015, 73 patients suffering from the gastrointestinal malignant tumors(group A)and 47 patients suffering from the non-malignant tumor(group B) were recruited to assess the cognitive function including Auditory Verbal Learning Test(AVLT) and clock drawing test(CDT),and the difference less than 0.05 was significant.Result The score of the short-time memory(AVLT-1, AVLT-2, AVLT-3, AVLT-I), the short delayed recall(AVLT-4) and the total scores of AVLT in group A were significantly lower than those in group B(P<0.05), and the rate of cognitive impairment in group A(43.83%) was significantly higher than that in group B(25.53%)(P <0.05). Although the scores of long delayed memory(AVLT-5)、 AVLT recognition and CDT in group A were less than those in group B, the differences weren’t significant(P> 0.05).Conclusions short-time memory and short delayed recall in Patients suffering from the gastrointestinal malignant tumors were serious impaired more than serioudecline than non-malignant diseases.
