Objective:To observe the effects of Tenuigenin on cognitive impairment of kindling model rats and investigate its synaptic mechanism. Methods:32 male Wister rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, Tenuigenin prevent group, control group had 8 rats, model and Tenuigenin prevent group had 12 rats respectively.By taking intraperitoneal injection of PTZ solution for 28 days to induce epileptic rat model. By taking intraperitoneal injection of PTZ solution along with giving Tenuigenin by gavage for 35 days to induce Tenuigenin prevent group.Use Morris water maze test to evaluate rats’ learning and memory function.By using LTP system to evaluate the effects of hippcampal nerve electrophysiology of each group. Results:The escape latency in the model group compared with control group was significantly increased(P<0.05).,The escape latency in Tenuigenin prevent group compared with the model group was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The mean times of passing platform from model group compared with control group was significantly decreased(P<0.05), The mean times of passing platform from Tenuigenin prevent group compared with model group was significantly increased(P<0.05).Model group compared with control group, the inhibition of LTP was significant(P<0.05), Tenuigenin prevent group compared with model group, the inhibition of LTP was alleviated significantly(P < 0.05). Conclusions:1.Tenuigenin could significantly improve learning and spatial memory ability of epileptic model rats. 2. Tenuigenin could significantly alleviate the inhibition of LTP induced by serizure.
