Objective:To explore the value of diagnosis and prognosis of peripheral blood MK in patients with colorectal cancer.Methods:126 patients with colorectal cancer and 75 healthy persons who underwent detection at the Shanxi Cancer Hospital between January 2014 and December 2014 were selected. The content of serum MK and CEA were measured by using ELISA. Group t-test,analysis of variance and LSD-t test were used to study the changes between the groups. Results:The expression of Midkine in the peripheral blood in experimental group was significantly higher compare to the control group(p<0.01). The expression of Midkine in Stage I + II, III period, IV of CRC were 431 ± 88, 498 ± 71, 600 ± 78 pg / ml.The differences were statistically significant( p <0.01).Moreover, the diagnostic value of MK protein in peripheral blood is higher than CEA and the area under the ROC curve was0.878 and 0.824,the difference was statistically significant(p <0.05).Conclusion:The diagnosis value of peripheral MK protein in colorectal cancer was superior to conventional tumor markers CEA.The rise of peripheral MK protein was associated with a poor prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer, suggesting that peripheral blood MK may be a valuable biomarker for diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.
