ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to compare the mandible morphological differences in different parts of the cross-section at the right and left side of patients with non-skewed, and at the deviated side and contralateral side of skewed patients, so it can help to provide references for clinical orthodontic or orthognathic surgery.Methods28 Adult patients with skeletal class Ⅲ of non-skewed were divided into the control group, 32 patients with skeletal class Ⅲ of mandibular deviation were divided into the deviation group, who have taken cone-beam CT scanning. The height, width and the inclination of the mandibular cross-section in different parts of mandibular were measured in two groups.SSPSS17.0 were used to analyze the differences of the measurement date between the two groups.ResultsIn the non-skewed group, the results of the height, width and the inclination of the mandibular cross-section at the mandibular symphysis, mandibular body and ramus section, have no statistical significance between both sides of the mandible section(p> 0.05). In addition to the width and the inclination of the mandibular cross-section at half before the mandibular symphysis section, the other measurements have statistical significance(p <0.05).Conclusion1 The left and right mandibular internal cross-section morphology at non-skewed adult patients was almost symmetry.2 The patients with skeletal class Ⅲ of mandibular deviation whose mandible cross-section occured to asymmetry between the deviated side and the nondeviated side.3 The asymmetry is not obvious at half before the chin, but the asymmetry is obvious at half after the chin, mandibular body and ramus section of patients with mandibular deviation.
