Objective:According to the rules of Cochrane system review,we searched for the randomized controlled clinical studies or controlled clinical trials on acupuncture and moxibustion for Infantile Anorexia in the relative database.Determining the effectivenes s and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion for Infantile Anorexia by assessing the q uality of these studies and conducting a Meta-analysis.Methods: Results: China National Knowledge Internet,Wanfang Medical Data System, VIP database, Pubmed Internet Online database,Cochrane Library,Centre of Reviws and Disseminations were searched electronically according to the strategy supported by Depression and anxiety neurosis group. We included randomized controlled trials(RCT) and controlled clinical trials(CCT) related to the treatment for Infantile Anorexia. In these stdudies, the treatment group contains acupuncture or moxibustion, while controlled group contains other medicine therapy. We assessed the methodological quality as described by the Jadad score ratings and analysed the data using Stata/SE 12.0.The contents include heterogeneity tests, forest plot, galbraith plot, the analysis of Meta regression, sensitivity analysis, the quantitative anylysis for publication bias and cumulative Meta-analysis. Results:A total number of 24 literatures involving 2639 patients met the inclusion criteria, Meta-analysis showed statistics below:(1)the overall effective rate of treatment in the group receiving acupucture and moxibustion was higher than that in the medicine therapy group(OR=6.83,95%CI=[4.26,10.97],Z=7.95,P<000l).the cure rate of treatment in the treating group was higher than that in the medicine therapy group(OR=3.40,95%CI=[2.51, 4.59],Z=7.82,P<0001).(2) The group receieving acupuncture and point-application are both superior to ctrolled group respectively in therapeutic effect(OR=5.58,95%CI=[3.57, 8.71]),(OR=5.56,95%CI=[3.82,8.1]).(3)The difference between the groups of Sifeng alone and medicine treatment was significant(OR=16.34,95%CI= [5.94,44.89]),the same results was showed in the comparison beween the groups of point application on Shenque(RN8) alone and medicine treatment(OR=4.84,95%CI=[2.43, 9.64]).(4)As long as the appetite and food intake, acupuncture showed positive effects(WMD=-0.98,95%CI= [-1.37,-0.59],Z= 4.93,P<0.0001),(WMD =-1.36,95%CI =[-1.78,-0.94],Z=6.33,P<0.001).Conclusion:The overall effective rate of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for infantile anorexia is significantly superior to medicine therapy, indicated that its’ clinical effect is worthy to be defined. However, due to the differences of Standard Evaluation in each study and the limited number of RCT and CCT literatures, especially those of high quality, large samples and multi-center randomized controlled studies, further study still needed to be carried out.
