Objective:To investigate the knowledge about osteoporosis in the population with abnormal BMD. To understand the population of osteoporosis knowledge and information sources, provide a theoretical basis for the development of osteoporosis education programs effective, in order to promote the early prevention of osteoporosis, early diagnosis and early treatment. Methods:1. From 2013 September to 2014 October in Dalian University Hospital Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of bone density examination 1320 abnormal BMD(BMD measurement showed osteopenia and osteoporosis), including outpatient and hospitalized patients. Literature review and questionnaire design standard. The person asked, before the survey respondents to explain the purpose and significance of this investigation, the investigation personnel agree to inform and confirm the detailed content.2. BMD determination: using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry detection, performed by the same operator.3. Statistical methods: the survey was carried out using Excel 2003 data input, SPSS 20 software for statistical analysis. Statistics questionnaire scores between the groups were compared using the frequency table; the mean variance t test, single factor analysis, there are significant differences P<0.05. Results:1. The scores of 27 points, respondents average score of 18.20 points.2. The osteoporosis related knowledge in general and sub item score: male was lower than female(P<0.05); young people>middle-aged person>the elderly(P<0.05); primary school and below<junior middle school<high school / secondary school<college / Bachelor degree or above(P<0.05); personnel and engineering and technical personnel and health education staff higher than other occupation(P<0.05), agricultural production workers, housewives, workers less than other occupation personnel(P<0.05);3. A cognitive approach for knowledge about osteoporosis: through the medical staff education obtain the knowledge of osteoporosis(4.92%), but the small number of questionnaire score(95.73%), and obtain the knowledge of osteoporosis by way of a large number of non medical staff(95.08%), the questionnaire score rate is low(radio / TV / newspaper / magazine the media 68.59%, 72.79% community health activities, family / friends publicity 65.47%, other 62.547%), there was significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion:1. People with abnormal BMD is not high knowledge about osteoporosis, especially in the elderly and educated men, lower lower awareness of osteoporosis.2. The medical staff education to acquire the knowledge of osteoporosis is less, but the correct rate is higher, suggesting that the medical staff should strengthen the propaganda and education related knowledge of osteoporosis, especially for the high risk population of osteoporosis and cognitive degree of low population(such as the elderly and educated men, lower).
