Objective : This study aimed to correlate early septicemia with patent ductus arteriosus in premature infants. Fist, whether early septicemia influence closure of ductus arteriosus was our mainly observation. Second, whether septicemia have impact on heart function. Third, whether septicemia have impact on effect of ibuprofen. Last, how different were their complications in hospital. Method: A total of 53 premature infants who were routinely screened with echocardiography for PDA on the first day of life were recruited. The infants’ birth weight should range from 1000 g to1500g,and their gestational age should range from 28 to 32 week. When infants had the symptomatic PDA, the ibruphone was used to close PDA. Two groups were defined: a research group who had septicemia within seven days after birth and a control group who hadn’t it. All infants were screened with echocardiography everyday, it should last seven days. The observation contained the accumulation about closure of PDA and heart function and effect of ibuprofen and the complication. Result: The research group(n=23,GA30.67±1.34,BW1.39±0.08) had less accumulation about closure of PDA since the fourth day and more complication about cardiac failure, intraventricular hemorrhage, ventriculomegaly, necrotizing enterocolitis, and disseminated intravascular coagulation than the control group(n=30,GA31.28+1.37,BW1.41+0.07). The index of LVEF and FS and pulmonary artery pressure in the research group were higher than in the control group. When the infants with sPDA, ibuprofen was used. The research group with sPDA(n=8) hadn’t closed on the seventh day, while two of the control group with sPDA(n=8) had closed on the seventh day. Conclusion: The premature infants with patent ductus arteriosus who had septicemia can delay the closure of PDA. Because of the delay, heart must pump more blood, which increase the burden for heart, and the other organs of body are short of blood, which increase the incidence of complication such as cardiac failure, intraventricular hemorrhage, ventriculomegaly, necrotizing enterocolitis, and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Septicemia have impact on the effect of ibuprofen.
