Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of GEMOX regimen combined with synchronous three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy in treating esophageal carcinoma.Methods:94 stage esophageal carcinoma patients who recieved treatment in our hospital during April 2010 and October 2013 were chosen and divided into control group and observation group, 47 cases in each group. The general states of the two groups were comparable(P>0.05). Patients in control group were given three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, and patients in observation group were given GEMOX regimen chemotherapy combined with synchronous three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy. To compare the efficacy, safety, 1-year survival rate and life quality of patients in two groups. Results:The effective rate in control group was 63.83%, the effective rate in observation group was 82.98%, the difference between two groups was statistically significant(χ2=4.144,P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the incidences of leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, nausea and vomiting in two groups(P>0.05); the incidences of radiation esoplagitis in observation group were significantly higher than these in control group(P<0.05). The 1-year survival of patients in the control group was 57.45%, 1-year survival of patients in the observation group was 74.47%, the difference was statistically significant(χ2=5.508, P<0.05). The physical function, overall health of patients in observation group were better than these in control group, pain degree was weaker than control group, but patients in observation group felt more fatigue, and the economic burden was heavier as compared to the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:GEMOX regimen combined with synchronous three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy is able to increase the treatment efficiency, 1-year survival rate, improve patients’ life quality, but it can lead the increase of incidences of radiation esophagitis.
